Carlo Defendini-Díaz joined Sepulvado, Maldonado & Couret as an Associate in September 2015. In 2007, Mr. Defendini-Díaz was hired as a law clerk at Ralph Vallone, Jr. Law Offices. He accepted an attorney position within Ralph Vallone, Jr. Law Offices, wherein he successfully litigated issues of civil, commercial and health law. Before joining Sepulvado, Maldonado & Couret, he practiced law from his own firm.
He has key experience in civil litigation; wrote winning briefs on appeals before the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals. Additionally, Mr. Defendini-Díaz has effectively handled and argued cases before the First Circuit Court of Appeals, the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rico Court of First Instance.
Mr. Defendini-Díaz obtained his Bachelor’s Degree summa cum laude in Criminal Justice, with a major in Criminal Investigation, from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico with a 3.94 G.P.A. He also was an Honor Roll student, recognized in the 2005 edition of the “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities,” and part of the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico’s “Lista de la Rectora” (“Rector’s List”).
Mr. Defendini-Díaz completed the March 2009 Puerto Rico Bar Exam with its ninth highest grade: a 98.3% percentile. In August 2009, he was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. In 2010, he was admitted to practice law before the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico. In 2012, he was admitted to the Bar of the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also admitted to the Florida Bar.
