Charles A. Bimbela-Quiñones

Charles A. Bimbela-Quiñones joined Sepulvado, Maldonado & Couret in August, 2024. In 2007. Mr. Bimbela-Quiñones has extensive experience in complex litigation having participated in several multimillion-dollar lawsuits, class actions and complex litigation cases involving commercial, banking, personal injury, taxation, construction, transportation and energy matters, as well as in the area of products liability. He has developed a particular practice related to challenges to various taxes and assessments against banking institutions and other clients. He has frequently lectured in this latter area of the law and regarding practice and litigation before and against local administrative agencies in continuing education seminars sponsored by the Puerto Rico Bar Association. Mr. Bimbela-Quiñones also concentrates in state appellate practice and cargo defense claims.

Mr. Bimbela-Quiñones worked for 29 years at Fiddler González & Rodríguez as a Shareholder of the Litigation Division and Member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. He also served as Law Clerk for the Honorable Peter Ortiz, Associate Justice of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court.

NOTABLE REPRESENTATIONS

Mr. Bimbela-Quiñones participated as part of the defense counsel group for the San Juan Dupont Plaza Hotel in the multi-district litigation arising from the December 31st, 1986 fire that destroyed the hotel. He also was lead counsel for the Puerto Rico Telephone Company in the mass tort litigation arising from the explosion that occurred in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico on November21,1996, where a total of 1,500 lawsuits were presented. Mr. Bimbela-Quiñones was Also lead counsel for the Puerto Rico Power and Energy Authority in a class action filed by energy consumers and was also counsel for Banco Bilbao Vizcaya in a class action related to the Federal Debt Collection Practice Act. Mr. Bimbela-Quiñones has represented various banks and pharmaceutical companies in Puerto Rico in numerous cases related to taxation issues.
